Perserverance. Resilience. Independence.

“West Coast Kids Therapy takes the reins because they care so much. They truly understand the patient centered model as they collaborate with our child’s specialists. This compassion is seen in every session, in every phone call, in every report. This ideal flows through every one of their team members. I recommend them to others now and will continue to do so.”

Together, our paediatric therapists work with children and their families to nurture growth, confidence, and independence.

Paediatric Occupational Therapists

OT’s Help children gain independence in their daily lives, empowering them through occupation. Our therapists work closely with each child, identifying unique challenges and leveraging strengths to support development, enhance learning, and increase confidence. By focusing on what matters most to a child and their family, we help them thrive in their environments, ensuring they can participate, perform, and reach their full potential.

Paediatric Physiotherapists

Paediatric Physiotherapy focuses on helping children reach their fullest physical potential, empowering them to explore their environment, connect with peers, and grow. It's all about making movement and growth as easy and enjoyable as possible. Through personalized, fun activities and encouragement, we help children overcome physical challenges and boost their confidence. Our approach supports every child’s unique journey.

Behavioural Interventionists

Behavioural interventionists play a crucial role in fostering positive change, especially in young lives facing challenges in communication, social skills, and emotional regulation. By understanding each child's unique needs, they create tailored strategies that encourage positive behaviours, enhance learning experiences, and support emotional development. This personalized approach not only benefits the child but also empowers families with tools and techniques to nurture ongoing growth and development.

West Coast Kids Therapy Group provides services in the natural environment of the child (home, school, daycare, etc.). Sessions can be virtual or in person.

Current sessions with our therapists include the following:

Initial session

In this first session with the child and parent/caregiver, the child’s history is reviewed, strengths and concerns are discussed, and goals are identified.

Follow up sessions

These sessions focus specifically on using play, activities, and movement to work toward the goals previously identified in the initial session.

Sensory Assessment

This is completed by an occupational therapist. History is reviewed and current function is assessed with respect to sensory processing skill development. This assessment identifies whether or not a Sensory Processing Disorder is warranted. Supportive recommendations are offered across multiple environments.

Sensory Motor Assessment

This assessment is completed jointly by an occupational therapist and physiotherapist. It provides an objective look at a child's sensory processing skills and motor development in order to identify any impact on their daily activities. A comprehensive report is included. This assessment is appropriate when:

  • baseline skill levels need to be identified.

  • a sensory and/or motor diagnosis is suspected (ex. Sensory Processing Disorder, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Dysgraphia, etc.).

Exercise Program

If an exercise program is recommended after a child’s initial physiotherapy session, the program is created by the physiotherapist and a follow up session is required to demonstrate safe implementation of the program.

“My son was born prematurely with a genetic disorder presenting many challenges. We recruited Louisa (Physiotherapist) from West Coast Kids Therapy onto his team. She is such an amazing paediatric physio. She is very evidence based, has years of experience working with kids with extra needs, and she has an immense amount of compassion. Every session she manages to get the best out of my son, pushing him to his full potential. Louisa has always gone above and beyond, from post session reports, quarterly goal setting, and writing letters to advocate for my son. We know we have other hurdles ahead of us and having West Coast Kids Therapy on our team of practitioners will allow my son to thrive and achieve great things.”
